My Debate Evaluation

Recently we had are Debate semi finals and finals. In this my team won in the semi finals and then only 12 out of 36 students got throught, I was one of them. After that we had 10 minutes to write a debate about. Should people under 13 be allowed on facebook. I was the intro person for the team that said that they should be allowed, we lost.

In this I think that I did very good, I got really high marks and I was very happy to do it. But I didn’t do that well in the finals where I did only half of it but I made up the other half.

DARE movie

Photo of Julie

My thoughts on this is that I don't really know why people smoke. This showed how much smoke goes into the lungs of a smoker which is very fascinating to watch. The thing u need to make this are: 1 plastic bottle, 1 cigarette, 1 straw, lots of tap, and some cotton.

Words of Wisdom

Yesturday was history, tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift-that's why it is called the present.

A person who asks a question may be a fool for 5 minutes, but a person who doesn't ask may be a fool forever.

No one can ruin your day without your permission.

I find that these Words of Wisdom are the most meaningful because: They are really good facts, there true, and they can really help your life.

DARE course impact

The DARE courses impact on me was huge. I have learnt so much about how bad drugs are to the human body and also how the police find out where the drugs are. From this course it has made me want to work in the police for being a sniffer dogs handler. I now know that I will not ever take drugs in my life.

My two best pages in my DARE book

These are my two best pages in my DARE book. I have chose these ones because: they are colourful, and I have done quiet well with writing it.

DARE my thoughts

Corporal Punishment

The dictionary meaning for Corporal Punishment is being punished by being whipped or beaten. Corporal Punishment was abolished in New Zealand in 1990 which I think was the best decision for New Zealand This is because New Zealand children don’t deserve to be punished for some stupid reason like: talking or even getting a question wrong. A example of serious bad behavior that has took place in my School is with a kid getting angry with something in the past. This story will not have the peoples names in it for personal reasons. One day in Norton Primary School there was a boy called Louis Claybourne who was hanging around the field with his mates George and Michael Brooker. On the field Louis was talking to his mates about how his dog died and who it was, that person was Charlie Young. Louis saw Charlie right next to him and said “Doggy pile”! He jumped onto Charlie and others joined him. He was shouting at him “Why did you kill my dog”. After the doggy pile had finished Louis Claybourne and Charlie Young had to go see a teacher called Mrs Smith every week day for the next two weeks. This affected them both very much. Louis Claybourne new that this was wrong after all the talks and was very sorry. Charlie Young was also very sorry for how he pulled his dogs ears and making the dog get put down. I think that corporal punishment would have been the best solution here because I think that the students went over the line. People say that children behave better with Corporal Punishment in school which I think isn’t true. I think this because, children will be scared to even say anything to the teacher or even to the students next to them. They might not even send there children to school. Also people say that Corporal Punishment teaches children not to behave bad when they are older This is because they may have problems at home, there friends tell them to do it or maybe they have no job and have a life of crime. In conclusion I think that the two boys that got in a fight did realize that it is wrong to fight about something that happened in the past and that should have already been sorted out a long time ago. My Drawing Perspective

With my drawing perspective I think that I didn't do that well. This is because: I found it hard to keep up with the guy showing us what to do, I wasn't really thinking what to do.
I think that I did well in with my mountains, my roof and my posts.
Next time I will try to do better with my 3D affect.

DARE to Make a Choice

This term the senior school is learning about DARE. Dare is a unit that the NewZealand goverment made for young teenagers to learn about all the different drugs and how some of them are bad and some
good. Dare is also very fasinating. Today I found out that chocolate is a drug (weird aye).

I am really looking forward to this unit. And a good thing is in three weeks we are going to H20 (swimming pool in the hutt).

Dear Abby Letter

Dear Abby,

I have a extremely annoying problem. In Verona, Italy there are two frustrating families who have been fighting for as long as I have been alive.

Yesterday I was at the market with my children Fred and Denis, and then I heard the bell that I have known for along time now. So I rushed to get to my house, but they had already spread to there. I saw bodies lying on the ground with no pulse, my children cried for it to stop. We then found a group of people in a house calling for us to come over. We ran to them as fast as we could, but my kid Fred had slowed down, me and Denis where calling for him to rush over, but it was to late he had gotten tripped over and had his head sliced off. I told Denis to run to the people in the house he would be safe there but I couldn’t go, I then saw the Prince . I wondered why couldn’t he of come earlier.

So in the end Abby , a women to a women, I need to know if I should get out of Verona or stay here and hope for the best, for me and my kid.

-Worried Mother

Dear Worried Mother,

I see your concern. I have three children and I would want nothing to happen to them  either. I think that the best thing to do is to move out of Verona, and to the closest place that is peaceful. Or if you want to stay there, I think the best thing to do would be asking the Prince for some assistance and for him try stop them doing it (Or there should be penalties) And if it happens to you again I would definitely move out.

Romeo Juliet's prospective

Romeo is a kind, passionate, and loyal husband. He is a dreamy young man who cares for me and his friends. When it comes to fighting Romeo is a peacekeeper and he is a lover not a fighter. At the age of 15 Romeo stole my heart and since then it was love at first sight.

Romeo is a handsome, good looking man. He has short thin straight hair, sparkling blue eyes, skin as creamy as vanilla, and he is the man of every girls dream.

Romeo belongs to the family of Montagues. His mum, Lady Montague and his father Lord Montague. He’s the only child in the Montague family. Romeos cousin goes by the name of Benvolio, he is a good, caring, kind cousin who always stands up for Romeo. Although not all families live happily, my family hate the Montagues, they have held a grudge for each other for many, many years, which has led to meaningless violence.

Romeo’s interests are to write love poems about me,some of them say really romantic things like "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight!/ For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." they make me fell special about myself. He also likes to do stuff with his friends. I think Romeo likes to dream about Me.

Romeo is a nice husband who I am happy to of meet at the party, if it wasn’t for him I would of had to mary Paris.

What is the Carbon Cycle

Have you heard of the Carbon Cycle? Are you thinking what is it? Well, I’ll tell you.Carbon is found everywhere in the world, in the atmosphere. Even in all living matter. The Carbon Cycle uses these processes to keep our air clean. They are: Decomposition, respiration, transportation, photosynthesis and compaction. This cycle is one of the many that keep this world the way it is.

Next, an animal or a plant dies and begins to break down all the carbon that was stored. It then gets released into the atmosphere. Decomposition is also when animals or plants die or decay and become part of the soil. Also if animals or plants don’t decompose not fast enough they can become compacted and over a long period of time they could become fossil fuels.

Respiration is when something breathes in and out. When we breathe in oxygen we breathe out Carbon Dioxide this is also like the animals in the ocean, but when they breathe out the Carbon Dioxide, it dissolves back into the ocean.

Photosynthesis is one of the main parts in the Carbon Cycle. Photosynthesis is the main reason animals and people breathe in and out. Plants are the opposite to us when it comes to breathing they breathe in Carbon Dioxide and breathe out Oxygen. Photosynthesis also cleans the air. Photosynthesis is mainly the process which green plants turn Carbon Dioxide into water and then into food using energy from the sunlight.

In conclusion, the Caron Cycle keeps the world in a balanced. But because of the human activity that’s happening right now on this planet, we will die if we don’t think fast. Global warming is occurring. We can help this by putting a seed in the ground when we cut one down. Or maybe even cutting down on how many factories we use. This will help to reduce the amount of carbon in the air.

Buddies

This year we have gone over to the Junior side to be with our buddies. When we are there we do their spelling testing, and when they have finished we do a fun game before we have to leave. This year I have had two buddies Ted, and Harrison. I am with Harrison at the moment and I will soon be with Ted when Harrison's buddy comes back from England. The things that I like about buddies are: we get to go over the road and interact with the Junior side more, we don't have to work in that time, and just to see everyone happy.

What is the Water Cycle

Have you ever wondered what the water cycle is?
The water cycle or hydrologic cycle is a continuous process where water evaporates, travels into the air and becomes part of a cloud, then falls down to earth as precipitation. It then evaporates again. This repeats again and again in a never-ending cycle. Water keeps moving and changing from a solid to a liquid to a gas, over and over again.
Evaporation is when the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into vapor or steam. The water vapor or steam leaves the rivers, lakes or oceans and rises into the air. Transpiration is just the same but with plants.
Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed into liquid water. Condensation is crucial to the water cycle because it is responsible for the formation of clouds. These clouds may produce precipitation, which is when water returns to the Earth's surface within the water cycle. Condensation is the opposite of evaporation.
Precipitation is water released from clouds in the form of rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the part in the water cycle which provides for the delivery of water to the Earth. Most precipitation falls as rain.
Accumulation of the precipitation is the final stage of the water cycle before it starts all over again. It accumulates back into lakes, rivers, and oceans. If it ends up on land with no source of water near it will soak into the earth and become ground water that plants and animals use.
The water cycle has four main parts to it: evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation and accumulation. The water cycle is very important for humans, animals and plants because without the water cycle none of these living things wouldn’t be here today.

What is the Carbon Cycle

The carbon cycle is a continues cycle like all other cycles on earth.
Carbon is a chemical element, like hydrogen, oxygen, lead or any of the others in the periodic table. Carbon is what all living creatures breath out. If all humans died the carbon cycle would still continue.
Carbon is stored in trees, plants, water, animals and human bodies. Carbon is released when trees rot and die, when people breathe out, when wood burns and when animals die carbon is released as they decay into the soil. Carbon can also be released when there is a volcanic eruption.
Humans can get rid of carbon in there bodies by breathing out, and dying its just the same with animals. Plants can get rid of there carbon by dying, decomposing and catching on fire.
When a tree catches on fire all the carbon in the wood releases and rises in to the atmosphere. If you set a table on fire all the carbon will come out and float into the air.
In conclusion we are cutting down all the trees which releases more carbon into the atmosphere which is unhealthy for the planet. We need to stop and think before we kill our planet. We need the trees to breath.

NYLD National Young Leaders Day

On the 28th of May 2012 Muritai Schools Year 7 and 8 went to NYLD Nation Young Leaders Day on the bus. We left at 8.30am and got there at 9.30am we arrived to find lots of other schools waiting to come in to the hall to get to there seats. When it started two famous people that are presenters on shows came out and told us every thing that was going to happen and other activities. First Nick Tuatasi came out and told us about some life and death situations that have happened in his life, and even some funny moments but his main point was to tell us about SPARK. The second person was Jamie Fitzgerald who came and told us his world record about going to the south pole for 56 days with his friend Kevin Biggar from the edge to the middle, and his rowing career. His main point was, never let performance get in the way of safety, and how much effort have you put in. Third was Cassandra Treadwell who told us about her charity in Kenya who helps kids that need help from war that has happened and she has built a school, orphanage and nursery. Her main point was, believe in yourself and others will to. The fourth person was Cam Calkoen who was my favorite out of all the five people, he is a famous runner for New Zealand but has cerebral palsy which is a type of disorder which causes brain and nervous system functions such as movement, learning, hearing, seeing, and thinking. His main point is Dream big and achieve more. The last person we had was Dave Atkinson who was really funny in every ones eyes, he made a penguin out of a banana, telling us his really embarrassing story from when he went on a trip with his friends, and told us some facts for in the future. His main points were, to stick up for what's right, choose good friends, and live for others. After that we went back to school and went straight home.

The things that I think make a good leader are, living for others, believe in everything everyone says, not to boss people around, and to try and make everything right. The way I think that people could do all this is by listening to everyone and never give up. There was something that someone at the NYLD asked us, what would you do if you knew you couldn't fail? Everyone was thinking about this in there heads and I answered it like this. I would be a famous football player and never lose a game in my life.

In the future Kirrin want’s to be a author or a musician, Kirrin could easily become either of these because she enjoys both and is very good at them. Kirrin plays three different musical instruments, Piano, Guitar, and Marimba. These are all hard instruments to play but she plays them really well.
